CELPIP Speaking Task 1 Sibling Struggling to Adapt to New Job

Your sibling has started a new job but is having a hard time adapting to the company culture and making a good impression on their colleagues. What advice would you offer?

“Starting a new job is never easy, so it’s normal to feel a bit out of place at first. One helpful approach is to observe how others interact at work and adapt while still being yourself. Small gestures, like joining colleagues for lunch, can make a big difference. Also, take the initiative to ask questions and show interest in learning about the company. This will help you build connections and feel more comfortable over time. Just be patient—every new job takes some getting used to, but you’re doing great!”
